The FT-847 will continue to operate normally on the current frequency, but every five seconds will switch briefly to Memory Channel #1, looking for activity. Here's how it works: Press the keypad's key momentarily to initiate the Priority mode. When loading memories, remember to reserve Channel #1 for Priority use.The Priority feature is available in all operating modes. Priority Channel Scanning (dual Watch) is possible with the Yaesu FT-897. ![]() It is only useful if you want to listen on the HT. It claims to, but it can only rebroadcast incoming signal while it cannot allow a remote HT to reply back through it. Q: Does the FT-847 have true cross-band repeat?Ī: No. Although it will not dual receive, it does does have a priority function as another option, which is considered a "dual watch." The second VFO is transmit only, designed for satellite work. Q: Does the FT-847 have dual monitor / dual receive?Ī: No. There is no built-in SWR meter, just a "High SWR" indicator. The Yaesu FT-847 and Kenwood TS-2000 are very similar in features. Mike Foubister Z元TIC has a pretty good review. ![]()
